I arrived in Miami two days ago, at around 7:00pm, then got a taxi to my hotel on Miami Beach. The weather here, even at night is hotter than what it is most summer days, and then in the day, it's even better!
Yesterday I went to the beach, then caught a bus up to the north part of the island I'm on, up to a 'huge' shopping mall. After that I took a walk around the area I'm staying in. It's full of shops, and so I did a bit of Christmas shopping.
Today, I went to the beach again, this time though for a few hours. Didn't really want to do much as it's so hot. After that, I took a walk around the shops again (I never 'go shopping' at home, but I've got the excuse of being on holiday).
I'm doing my best to save as much money as possible, and so since I've been here, I've gone to Subway for every meal, hence the name 'The Subway Experiment'. A diet of 'turkey and ham, on Italian herbs and cheese, with cheddar and salad, with ranch dressing' (any subway fans will know that that's the second best sub they do), really isn't bad at all! Can't wait to get back to NC though to eat some proper food!
I'm catching the train at 8 in the morning, and 21 hours later, I'll be in NC. So 'please' pray that I'll get a window seat! (Photos will come when I get back to NC).

hi Chris, glad to hear you're having a good time in the USA, and good weather, which is the opposite to what we're having! Hope you got a window seat for your long journey home!
Great photos of 'trunk or treat' day, by the way...
i hope you had a good time in miami and seeing hillsong, and keep up the good work in north carolina! love tom
At least Subway is halfway healthy and you're hopefully not chucking up like that 'Super Size Me' McDonalds guy did: yukety yuk.

courtney xxxxxx
whats the best sub?...
Well I'm not really a fan of sandwich shops but that doesn't sound too bad, although I can recommend a really good one that's a little closer to home. It also sells yummy cakes,or as Doug would say "pastries".
It does have a few problems with it's casual staff though, - students usually jetting off around the world- America and such places.
Glad you enjoyed the Florida experience, but will be even more glad when you're safely back in North Carolina. Mums eh!!!
Tell you what Chris, this morning with the thick frost on the ground and the fog hanging around, i can't imagine it being warm anywhere!
Glad you are having a good time, and getting around so well.
I do hope you got a window seat;o)
Keep safe
I got in about 15 mins ago. And I'm never going to make fun of sleep deprivation again...
What's the gap? I knew they do the Solution at the Salvation Army, didn't know they had that Gap service there as well though. Do you mean the same Gap service as was help in the Baptist church on Oct 14th?
No - Gap at the Salvation Army is a bit like Solution but for the younger ones I think.
Glad you're back in one piece. Get some sleep!!!
Yeah Chris, get some sleep - I think you're going to need it!
ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Pat must be at work to be sleeping that soundly.
Friends,
I picked Chris up at 6:25 am. He looked like he had been up all night. Amazingly he stayed up the whole day and tomorrow will ride with Bob Chaney to West Virginia to help him with do some work there. After tomorrow Chris will have been in 8 of the 48 lower states (Hawaii and Alaska make 50) and 6 states in just 48 hours. His total is really going up now:
North Carolina
South Carolina
Alabama
Mississippi
Georgia
Florida
Virginia
West Virginia
All he lacks is Tennessee and Kentucky to cover the entire Southeast of the US. In the last 30 days Chris has been 3,664 miles not counting local driving. That averages out to over 122 miles per day. Not bad for his first month.
Chris,
Sooner than later you are going to figure out that the US will take more than two months to see. It is 3,537,441 square miles compared with 93,000 square miles in the UK. From my travels it has been kind of hard to wrap my mind around, but here is a try - the 11th largest state in the US is Michigan at 96,810 square miles. However, what I find so wonderful about the UK is that the history and diversity per square mile are so condensed that it is equally as hard to try and take in even in a lifetime. Oh, well I digress, it is great to share this side of the pond with you, Chris.
Not bad for one that rarely moves any further than bed to bathroom to table to car and back again normally.....
Thanks for the great compliment on getting back to NC to eat "proper" food. I feel affirmed as the chief chef at the Grays Chapel Manor, now. We didn't hear much about Southbeach in Miami. Tell us, what exactly went on there? --Mother Mary
Faith and Courtney,
We have been jumping on our trampoline. We'll try to get Chris on there and get a picture. Wish us luck! --Jordan and Christian
Do you believe in miracles? Chris actually does move around here and does some chores around the house. (We won't elaborate on what time he wakes up, however.) Ask him to send you a picture of him ironing his laundry! --Mother Mary
hstreetcreiredChris g a p stands for Gods AWESOME Place, bet you know the meaning of AWESOME now you have been in America for a while. Glad you have got back safe. Glad to hear Jordan and Christian are keeping the trampolining up, tell them ours is down now the weather has gone horrible. love from Mo
What time does he get up then? Go on, Millers - spill the beans...
even i no what gap is!! come on chris!! i don't like calling you chris it sounds weird haha!!
you know what i've never had a subway sandwich!! i had a cookie and drink from the subway in Greensboro and that's all i've ever had from there!!
so did you actually get a window seat???
tell us about miami!!
victoria says she hasn't seen you in ages and said "he just disappeared" haha!!
eww susie don't remind of that guy!! it was disgusting!
<3 xxx
I get up no later than 9 pretty much everyday!
And that bit from my mum's probably very true - I used to take the car to get from one building in college to the other one. (not often though...)
What does hstreetcreired mean?
You've never had a subway? You're missing out! Know what I'm gonna get you for Christmas now... And yeah, I got a window seat. Made sure of it this time.
South beach was like a normal beach - white sand, clear sea, very hot, and really quiet (it's November after all). Miami was so nice, never seen so many luxury cars down one street before! Loads of shops, I'll have to put some photos up on here when Ive got some time.
For a minute there I thought you were talking about Blackpool when you were describing the beach and then I thought you were talking about Crewe and all those luxury cars...
Hope you have a quiet weekend.
Chris moved a little quicker than he normally does when Pat, Mary and I barged in his bedroom at 8.30am with a camera shouting "Surprise"!!!!!!!!!!
His opening line was "I am so gonna get my own back on you".
Wonderful - priceless.
We've had a lovely day so far. Went to Church this morning and met the folk there and had lunch there too with them all. It's so good to put faces to all the names we've heard. They're a fantastic group of people and made us so welcome.
no way!!! i hope you got his face on camera!! haha love it!!!
was very quiet at church this morning :p
as if you drove your car from 1 building to another!! that takes more effort than actually walking haha!!
have a good rest of the day!!
xxx
There is only one other time when I have heard chris say thatline. I don't think it would be fair to post it on here what happened to him...
What we all want to know is did Mandy manage to get into her suitcase and how many times did Pat cry at church?
I think we should be told.
Anyway, I hope Grays Chapel enjoy all these missionaries we keep sending over there.
Its not if you manage to park it right outside the exit, all I have to do is jump in, drive down, then jump back out again. its not laziness, it's using the resources you have...
And actually, she didn't cry once! though maybe she just hid it well. And she managed to get in her suitcase eventually. Who in the right mind locks the keys to her suitcase 'in' the suitcase?
was her purse in the suitcase as well?
and is there anything else in miami apart from palm trees? haha!!
xxx
Think so yeah. And there was quite a bit more... But I only took the camera to the beach, and so only took photos of stuff on the way back from the beach to the hotel. b
