Well, the day which the youth band has been preparing for 6 weeks actually came today. And depending on how you look at it, it was either a distaster, or an interesting time of worship.
Our other guitarist and bassist never showed up, and so we went through the soundcheck sounding a bit different to how we liked, but still sounding good. We ran through the four songs we were playing, and they sounded pretty good!
Then I took the band into a side room, and eacham member of the band prayed seperately. By the time we had finished praying, it was 10:45, and so we got into the band area just as the service started. The notices were read, and I stood up to play the opening chord, and no sound came out. In fact the only sound that came about was the sound of people laughing (since it was probably quite a funny sight)! I can remember laughing, and just saying "the Lord will provide". And he did, he provided me with an accoustic guitarist who was willing to give me his guitar. Although I think by the way I took it from him, he probably didn't think he had too much of a choice! Dave Johnson is one of the youth leaders here, and he's pretty new to playing accoustic guitar, and he practiced hard for this service, so I'm really thankful he took it all in a good way. So the whole worship was done with me playing accoustic, and the rest of the band did great, since everythin else went perfectly.
I looked out at the congegration a couple of times, and they were all worshiping God. And the job of a worship band is to draw people closer to God in worship, and so however it was done, (and it wasn't how I expected), we still did that, and so it all worked out great, and even though we had to do things a bit differently to how we planned, it was an amazing service, and everybody enjoyed it!
Below are some audio clips of how the worship went. (And for all you silver surfers out there, if you can't hear it, turn on your speakers!). And the start's pretty quiet, so you might need to turn your speakers up.

Thought it was brilliant - well done all of you. "Inside Out" made me cry but other than that it was brilliant.
NOW can you come home? !!!!
Hi Chris!!
I'm sorry it didn't go as planned but it actually sounded amazing!! Especially Inside Out and Blessed Be Your Name. Loved the singing by the way, that woman has a great voice! HA. Only joking, it was nice to hear you sing, you are actually a very good singer, despite what you say! It all sounded brill, can't wait till you come back to hear the songs we will be practising!
Alex
Woman? The girl you can hear is younger than you Alex! She's an amazing singer
i was going to say is that lisa? i think that's her name :s
so is the male voice yours?!?!? if it is i have never heard you sing like that before!! your actually pretty good!!!! there we go trevor can now say we have 3 singers in the band!! haha!!
it sounds really good!! how can you say it went wrong!!
can't wait to see you!! xxx
Yeah, it's me singing. And it was Leah singing, not Lisa. She's great isn't she.
And the only thing that went wrong was the first bit where my guitar didn't work. And also because I had to use accoustic, but overall, everything worked out fine, I'm not disappointed with anything that happened!
o yeh i got confused coz in the book it calls her lisa instead of leah!! haha!!
not long till you come back!! :p
xxx
Just managed to listen to the audio. It sounded really good. Leah did really well and i thought your deep voice blended really good. Well done all of you.
Have you started your packing yet? and have you worked out how to pack the ski's yet, you know you can't fold them in half!! I can't imagine how it is gonna be for you on Sunday having to say 'ta ra' to everyone, trust me this experience is something you will never forget. I was only their for nine days and i can't believe how much i miss the place and the people.
Bit of a 'knees up' tonight at Youthy, gonna make a Christmas punch with lots of nibblies, and i am sure our prayer time will be taken up with prayers for you (hope i don't cry again, sobbed like a baby the night before we left cause they were all praying for your mum and me).
Mother Mary will guide you on how to pack your valuables, she is very good at it!
I'm quite capable of packing my stuff thank you! You may not be able to post a comment on the blog without either losing it, posting it twice or forgetting how to do it, but packing is easy!
And I've still got 2 days left, I'm not thinking about saying goodbye yet!
Sounds really fantastic Chris - well done! And the others are right; your voice does go well with Leah's.
I wouldn't worry at all about the technical hitch at the start. It's sometimes nice when the worship's not too slick and perfect... we're all human afterall and it's still a fab gift to God.
I'm sure he wouldn't have cared a bit if all the guitars had packed up and you had to sing without them :o)
